Anybody else realize that as a species we are in grave danger and also wish to act?

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but i was just hanging around with a couple close friends, smoking a j, and become acutely aware of the karmic irresponsibility of our actions as a species. it's becoming a cosmic abortion. we are going to destroy ourselves before we have the opportunity to become a successful organism. i know one doesn't appear to have much influence, but if we loved ourselves or others wouldn't we die trying to make a change? we should treat this world in a way that it would be a place we would like to return to beyond this current lifespan. the universe as a school, earth as a clroom, and consciousness as a pioneer.
