The whole Christians being persecuted in England is not happening, is it?

I saw it on BBC Sunday with Nicky Campbell. I know Christians and other religions have been whining and complaining a lot, but I also know that they have been ridiculed a lot, I just want to know if religion has really gone into the sidelines, that's all.
