Braxton Hicks - Should they be this painful?

I am 34 weeks pregnant with my second child. With my first I did not notice BH at all. But with this baby I have had BH since around 23 weeks. Since Thursday I have pretty painful BH. From Friday at noon until Sunday evening they were every 35 minutes. Yesterday I had them all day but irregular. Today, they are irregular but more painful then the other day. I actually have to stop what I am doing to breathe through them...is this normal? I go in for my delivery discussion on the 26th. I already let my midwife know that I have been having them, but she did not seem to care.
