If no one works in lazy, socialist Europe and lives off the government, where does the money come from?

I'm curious. Because Europe is purely socialist and America is still purely capitalist, at least until the obammunists have their way. But I have a question, if all Europeans are living off the government and getting handouts, where does this money come from? Is it supplied by the generous U.S. of A. ? What do these Europeans do all day if they don't work? Also, if they have no freedom from big brother, how come the French don't get machine gunned for protesting, which they do all the time?
