Tonsil stones?

I recently diagnosed myself with tonsil stones.. the little smelly white things that come out of your throat... well many people said that they had them, too and it is common. My question is how the h e l l do i get rid of them. I can feel them and taste them. Only one has dropped and now I have the same symptoms I had before that one came out- sore throat, bad taste in my mouth... I have tried q-tips, mouthwash, and I just can't bear it any longer. How do I get them out or prevent them from coming back?
