CD Quality for writing and watching?

uhmm... i see lots of cheap cds that are sold especially by pirated video cds... so i want to avoid them.. i wonder what type or brand of dvd/video cds should i buy so that the quality of the cd is like that of the original ones sold at video stores.. i dont like to buy those that after some time becomes useless and damaged... unlike the original ones wherein even if it gets scratched its still the same...
