M effect 2 final mission help please?

ive just landed in the omega 4 relay and everyone survived it but now i have to send someone into the shaft and ive heard its better to send either tali or legion but i didnt have time to do legions loyalty missions because i heard that if you mess around when the crew have been taken then they die, so i was thinking of sending tali to into the shaft instead because ive done her loyalty mission, will she die? i really dont want her to die because she was my romance on the ship but i dont want to send legion either because i dont any of them to die, do some of them have to die?
